Savoury Cake
Breakfasts are meant to be so easy now with this delicious Savoury Cake!
This is Tarla Dalal’s recipe I got it from my Godrej Microwave Oven Cookbook and it is too good
INGREDIENTS:
Curds (Dahi) - 1/2 tbsp
Grated Carrot - 1/4 cup
Grated Cucumber - 1/4 cup
Chilli Powder - 1/2 tsp
Coriander-Cumin Seeds Powder - 1/2 tsp
Finely Chopped Green Chillies - 1 1/2 tsp
Sugar - 1 1/2 tsp
Salt - to taste
Fruit Salt - 1 tsp
Oil (For Tempering Greasing) - 3 1/2 tsp
Mustard Seeds (Rai/ Sarson) - 1/2 tsp
Sesame Seeds (Til) - 1 tsp
Asafoetida (Hing) - a pinch
SERVES: 4 people
COOKING TIME: 6 minutes
METHOD:
• Combine the idly batter, curds, carrot, cucumber, chilli powder, coriander-cumin seeds powder, green chillies, sugar, and salt in a bowl, mix well and keep aside.
• Combine 3 tsp of oil, mustard seeds, sesame seeds, and
asafoetida in a microwave-safe bowl, mix well, and microwave on HIGH for 2
minutes, stirring once in between after 1 minute. Keep aside.
• Add the fruit salt and 1 tsp of water to the idly batter.
When the bubbles form, mix gently.
• Pour this batter into a greased microwave-safe plate of 125
mm. (5") diameter and 37mm. (1/2") in height. Keep aside.
• Pour the prepared tempering over the batter, mix well, and
microwave on HIGH for 4 minutes.
• Cool slightly and cut into equal-sized pieces.
• Serve immediately with green chutney.
